Mulla-do-Pyaza was such a person of the Mughalia Sultanate whose name and work interested people the most. Very few people know the real name of Mulla-do-Piaza, who was included in the Navratnas of Mughal Emperor Akbar. His real name was Abdul Hasan. Abdul Hasan, the son of a schoolmaster, spent most of his time reading books, but living a simple life was never acceptable. Because of this ambition, he tried his best to make a place among the Navratnas of Akbar and was successful.
Don’t know how many papads Abdul Hasan made to become Akbar’s Navratna. After many months of hard work, he became in charge of the hen house of the royal family. Despite being educated, Hasan accepted this position, but did not let himself deviate from the goal.
The chicken coop account that made a dream come true
BBC’s Report According to this, Abdul fed the chickens for a month with the food that was saved in the royal kitchen. In this way the cost of fodder given to chickens was saved. After one month of appointment in the hen house, Hasan presented the accounts. It was shown in that detail to what extent savings were made after getting the post. Due to this quality of his, Emperor Akbar was impressed and made Hasan in charge of the royal library.
Hasan was not happy with his achievement, as his aim was to join the Navratnas of the court. To achieve his goal, he got the velvet and zari curtains made in the library, which the complainants used to gift to the emperor. A year after the appointment, when Emperor Akbar went to the library, he was happy to see the brocade and velvet curtains there. After this incident, Emperor Akbar included him in his Navratnas.
This is how Abdul Hasan became Mullah-Do-Pyaza
Abdul Hasan reached India from Iran through Akbar’s father Humayun. When Humayun conquered Delhi, Abdul Hasan stayed in the mosque and became the Imam there. Due to having a strong voice, he remained in the discussion. Gradually, his contact with the Mughal courtiers started increasing. One day he met Faizi, one of Akbar’s Navratnas. Both of them became friends and their dream of joining Navratnas started coming closer to come true.
One day Faizi invited him to a royal feast and made chicken meat. Abdul liked the dish and when asked the name, Faizi told him to give chicken and onions. He became so fond of it that whenever he was invited to a royal feast, he would get it made. Onion was specially used in this dish, this was its specialty.
When the Mughal emperor appointed Abdul Hasan as the royal cook, he presented the Murg Do Pyaza made under his supervision to Akbar. Akbar liked its taste so much that Abdul Hasan was awarded the title of ‘Do Pyaza’. Abdul, who had been the Imam in the mosque, was also called Mullah. From here he got the name Mulla-do-Pyaza.
