The number of frogs is decreasing rapidly around the world, most people believe that how will it affect humans. From the point of view of science, it is known that frogs are very important for humans. The presence of frogs is necessary if a person is to be healthy and to avoid diseases. According to research published in Environment Research Letters, in the 80s, the number of amphibians living on both water and land decreased in Panama and Costa Rica. These also included frogs and salamanders. All of them had viral fungal infections. Their number was rapidly decreasing. In the early stages, scientists were not even able to do research properly.
Scientists say, frogs and salamanders help prevent the population of mosquitoes from increasing. They eat the larvae of mosquitoes present in the water. This is their favorite food. In this way, they work to prevent diseases spread by mosquitoes such as malaria, chikungunya and dengue. This has also been proved in research. Now understand how this was proved after all?
According to the researchers, the death toll of frogs increased due to increased fungal effect in Costa Rica and Panama. If we look at the history of the last 50 years, there has been an increase in the cases of mosquito-borne diseases in humans. Earlier, on an average, 1.5 people were exposed to malaria cases in one thousand people, which has increased to 2. Not only this, due to such incidents, the cases of malaria in Central America increased by 70 to 90 percent.
Why the extinction of frogs is dangerous for humans can be understood from the data of the World Health Organization. According to the World Health Organization, 7 lakh 25 thousand deaths occur every year due to diseases spread by mosquitoes worldwide. In which 6 lakh deaths are caused by malaria alone.
